IDEA @RegExpr Workshop

For IDEA users comfortable with the Equation Editor but new to regular expressions. Using IDEA’s sample databases, you will write patterns and use @RegExpr to find, extract, and validate text such as postal codes, phone numbers, emails, and invoice numbers. These skills help you check data quality, isolate inconsistent entries, and spot exceptions in audit work.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Construct patterns using character classes, quantifiers, anchors, and groups.
• Apply @RegExpr in virtual fields and criteria to extract or flag matching records.
• Test and refine patterns to reduce false matches and missed records.
